1. Discuss whether there are certain mannerisms, clothing preferences, behavior codes, or other qualities that characterize each group.
ReplyDeleteAfter analyzing the student population in my school and the various groups or cliques that exist, I came up with the following results. First of all, all the girls at school aren’t apart of any specific cliques, but their certain characteristics divide them into two categories: simple and flashy. The simple girls in my school are shy and only speak to those whom which they are comfortable with. They wear their abayas throughout the entire week, including Fridays. These girls have lots of respect for their teachers, love to help others, and like to have a quiet class time. The flashy girls in my school are very bold and expressive which enables them to speak to anyone. They like to rebel; not wear their school uniforms and love to go all out, especially on Fridays. Most of the girls here do take into consideration to respect their teachers, despite their boldness. Others may continue to disrespect by talking when the teacher is talking, etc.
2. How important are these characteristics to the group members?
I think that these characteristics are very important to these different girls because it defines who they are and it is what makes them unique.
3. How do group members behave when they are under a direct influence of their group authority?
I think that these girls behave the same way with the direct influence of their group authority because they are within their group and it’s the place where they belong. They may end up adapting to the influence and instill whatever their group authority discusses about.
4. How do they behave outside the context of their group?
I think these girls behave differently outside the context of their group because when they are outside their group, they are no longer in their “me and friend” zone. The people outside their group are different than them so communicating or interacting with them would be kind of awkward for them.
1) I think that the only (very major) groups that exist in our school are each of the grades themselves.
ReplyDelete2) Although one's grade is very important, I think that our school is very unified and that grade does not place a barrier between each other. The only time grade is very important is during school competitions. Otherwise, grade is not a very important factor when socializing with others, except when determining what subjects/courses they are studying.
3) When under direct authority of the group (grade), such as during class discussions about competitions or bake sales or when during a class, members behave differently among their own classmates than when they are among people of other grades. They especially get very competitive with other grades during competitions.
4) When group member are with others from other groups, they behave somewhat differently from how they act with their own classmates, depending on who the person is (for ex. their cousin). However, even though as a class, some grades may be rivals in certain situations, as individuals, there is not such thing, and everyone interacts nicely with each other, despite their age or grade.

ReplyDeleteI think the few major groups that we have in our school population are: girly girls (which tend to go all out in expressing their beauty in all sorts of way and may never follow the school rules or policies),
The second type of group in my school are the fan girls who may be addicted to shows, movies, singers etc. (anime, 1D, Korean drama, the 100, bands, etc.)< if they hear a certain sentence they would go on singing or fangirling on some character’s name that might have been mentioned during school lesson. The clothing they may wear is probably normal as well but usually wears uniform out of school uniform
The third group may include the different kinds that are left from shy to people who may look innocent but they know a lot. They dress up very decently (Abayas, normal black hijab)
2. How important are these characteristics to the group members?
to me i think this is just a phase to fit in with other students who may obsess over the same kind of fashion, and for those whom where the correct uniform really do care for the rules and regulations of the school as to what they should wear and respect their teachers by following these few principles. Therefore these groups have their own importance and reason as to why they dress up this way in holding up their characteristics.
People say the way you dress describes you.and your personality so if you are a very modest person you may have an innocent heart and respect for your surroundings, and for those who dont really dress properly may not have respect for the certain dress code they are given from the school or for anyone such as teachers or friends and they might just want to fit in to the environment they are in.
3. How do group members behave when they are under a direct influence of their group authority?
I think that the group from our school behave the same way when they are under a direct influence of their group authority because that’s where they belong and feel comfortable around the people are themselves when they are with the people they know so they act the way everyone else does in the group or how they feel like it.
4. How do they behave outside the context of their group?
I think the groups behave differently outside the context of their group because when they are outside their group, because they are no longer comfortable with the people they usually don’t hang out with
1. Discuss whether there are certain mannerisms, clothing preferences, behavior codes, or other qualities that characterize each group.
ReplyDeleteAnalyzing the school I come to a conclusion that the school has variety of different groups each group in different categories. The most important category I see within the students are the marks. The marks of students categorize and differentiate them from one another. Some students achieve high marks some with average marks and some students who have relatively not appreciative marks. Some who try hard can be recognized from their attentive listening in class, continuously doing their homework and copying down or taking notes during the class. Students that achieve marks that is not that pleasing worry and seek help. However there are some students when they achieve marks like that they don’t care and don’t try hard. In fact students like that don’t learn lesson and will not succeed in future studies if they continue having such academic behaviors.
2. How important are these characteristics to the group members?
I believe that these characteristics to the group members are important because it shows to the students around and to the teachers and principles how much a person cares about their academic studies and where they stand in terms of education.
3. How do group members behave when they are under a direct influence of their group authority?
I think that these girls behave the same way with the direct influence of their group authority because they are within their group and it’s the place where they belong. They may end up adapting to the influence and instill whatever their group authority discusses about.
They say you are the shadow of your friends meaning that with whoever or with any type of people that you hang out with you eventually take some of their aspects in terms of their character. Group members who are under a direct influence of their group authority will behave the same way and get influenced off by one another. If a student spends more time with a student that achieves high marks in school the other students will start achieving high marks if not at least they will try to become better.however if a student spends more time with students who achieve marks that are relatively not high the student will say at least I achieved such an such marks a bit better to the point where they lack also. Our surroundings and friends affect who we are greatly.
4. How do they behave outside the context of their group?
I think that these members act same as they are with their group members. They spend more time with their friends they achieve their characters and it now becomes as their own character also. Changing for them will be difficult but they can if they try hard or limit their interactions with those members.
